BusinessGreen launches exclusive Net Zero Pioneers report detailing 50 of the UK's most cutting-edge organisations leading the charge to a greener, nature-friendly future

The top cutting-edge UK businesses, entrepreneurs and innovators leading the nation's journey to a net zero, nature-friendly economy have been revealed in an exclusive new report launched by BusinessGreen today.

The inaugural Net Zero Pioneers Report showcases 50 of the UK's most innovative and impactful businesses and organisations working across 10 key sectors towards on building a net zero future.

From energy and transport to industry and agriculture, from the emerging carbon removals sector to the evolving circular economy, from blue chips with centuries of heritage to exciting start-ups with fresh ideas, the report details how every corner of the UK business community contains pioneers mobilising their efforts in pursuit of the UK's net zero goals.

Published today ahead of the Net Zero Festival, which takes place next week from 31 October to 1 November at the Business Design Centre in North London, the new report provides an invaluable insight into the breadth and reach of the innovation and investment that is turbocharging efforts to tackle some of the biggest challenges on the pathway to a decarbonised, nature-friendly future.

Companies profiled in the report range from hydrogen aircraft developer ZeroAvia and green buildings leaders Whitbread and Satellite Vu, to green finance pioneers such as Triodos and Aviva, carbon removals specialists such as OCO Technology and UNDO, as well as regenerative agriculture companies Wildfarmed and Riverford Organic Farmers, plus many more besides.

All 50 companies profiled share in common a dogged determination to build a cleaner, greener and more productive economy, and they together provide a snapshot of the UK's increasingly vibrant innovation ecosystem - which continues to go from strength to strength, even despite economic and political headwinds facing the UK's green business community.

"With the recent government rollback of key net zero policies, it is more important than ever to showcase the many brilliant businesses that are making remarkable strides to deliver net zero emissions across multiple sectors and industries," said James Murray, BusinessGreen editor in chief. "The Pioneers Report seeks to celebrate their efforts and demonstrate how the commitment to climate goals and targets is helping to drive the development of exciting new technologies and business models that will deliver multiple benefits to both individual consumers and the UK economy as a whole."

A clutch of companies featured in the report - Toast Ale, UNDO, Green Angel Ventures and Naked Energy - will also share the stage next week at the Net Zero Festival. A panel discussion centred on the Net Zero Pioneers Report will see the diverse firms share their green business journeys and debate the commercial opportunities and challenges of delivering the net zero transition.
